Daddy's Girl
On several occasions I have been asked whether Ashlyn is a mommy's girl or a daddy's girl and I honestly don't know what to say. Although, she is very fond of me (her food source), she also loves her dad and gets very excited when he gets home from work. So, I guess the honest answer would be "both." Here are some cute pictures of her during some of her "daddy time."

Playing Croquet
Saturday night we played croquet with some old friends and these are pictures from our fun evening. Ashlyn was such a good sport. She spent the first part of our game playing with her stroller and later on she was crawling through the grass and trying to pull out the croquet stakes. Gretchen, the one person who had never played before, beat us all. Way to go Gretchen! You will notice in the group picture that my husband and I have unbearably white legs. I apologize . . . people with legs that white shouldn't be allowed to show them in public.

Just Cute Ashlyn
It has been almost a week since a picture of Ashlyn, so Mom, here you go. She was sitting on the couch between Brad's knees and watching TV. Look at those chubby legs! Brad was probably lying down because he was worn out from the hot afternoon he spent on the roof. The wind ripped off some shingles, so he and his dad were replacing them. Thanks for the help Dad!

Eating the Plug
Ashlyn has figured out how to pull plugs out of sockets (even the safety plugs we put in them to protect her). Today she pulled out the lamp plug and was sucking on it. I was surprised that she even got to it--she had to squeeze through this spot between the side table and the couch. I guess babies are really good at that kind of thing. You'll notice that in some of the pictures she is wearing a headband. Well, I stopped mid-pictures and put it on her, because she just looks so cute in it! Silly, I know . . .

Piano Update
As of this morning, our piano is officially tuned! I don't know how long it will last, but we will probably need to get it tuned again in 6 months. It had not been tuned for quite a long time, so for that reason, it might not stick as well as it would if it were regularly tuned. Besides some minor issues that are typical with an older piano, the technician said that it was quite a good instrument. However, we probably need to have the keyboard "rebushed" and the hammers sanded down if we want to enjoy it's optimum performance. So, if you are looking to buy a used piano, be aware that there will be issues that are just a normal result of piano aging and it could get a little expensive to deal with them all. The first picture is of the piano's beautiful ivory keys . . . yes, they are real ivory (one of the cool things about an older piano). The second picture is of the hammers--the one that is lighter than the rest was sanded down by the technician. Ideally, they should all be sanded down like that, and then the sound would be even better.

The Best Two Years
Plastic Sandwich
The Hirchaks (the people who we bought this house from who live down the street) gave Ashlyn this little toy kitchen that their kids had outgrown. Well, Ashlyn loves to chew on the fake utensils and food. Yesterday Brad pretended to eat one of the plastic sandwiches and Ashlyn couldn't stop laughing! These are pictures of her laughing at him and then chewing on the sandwich herself.
