Piano Update

As of this morning, our piano is officially tuned! I don't know how long it will last, but we will probably need to get it tuned again in 6 months. It had not been tuned for quite a long time, so for that reason, it might not stick as well as it would if it were regularly tuned. Besides some minor issues that are typical with an older piano, the technician said that it was quite a good instrument. However, we probably need to have the keyboard "rebushed" and the hammers sanded down if we want to enjoy it's optimum performance. So, if you are looking to buy a used piano, be aware that there will be issues that are just a normal result of piano aging and it could get a little expensive to deal with them all. The first picture is of the piano's beautiful ivory keys . . . yes, they are real ivory (one of the cool things about an older piano). The second picture is of the hammers--the one that is lighter than the rest was sanded down by the technician. Ideally, they should all be sanded down like that, and then the sound would be even better.
