Daddy's Shoe
Ashlyn was enjoying cuddling with her daddy while watching Conference this morning. My favorite part of the picture, however, is that her foot is in his shoe!

Laundry Day
Although it may seem like all way do is play, sometimes we do some work. For example, Fridays are laundry days, so we've been busy cleaning and folding clothes. Ashlyn is very helpful in her own special way, however, I am looking forward to the day when she does her own laundry. How young is too young to teach children to wash their own clothes?

Immunizations
I took Ashlyn to the Health Clinic this morning to get one of her shots. When they gave it to her, she cried, which is probably normal, but she hasn't cried before. It broke my heart. A while afterward she started uncontrollably sobbing and this went on for like half an hour. Eventually she fell asleep and I was relieved. Does anyone else feel like a bad mom when their child has a bad reaction to immunizations? She is up from a nap now and seems a little bit happier--that is probably because I'm giving her whatever she wants. I'm sure it isn't the best thing to do, but it is making me feel better about myself. I do not love shots.

14 Months Old
Ashlyn is 14 months old today! We celebrated by going to laptime at the library with Tiffany and Kyle. While there we heard stories and sang songs and even looked at some books. Afterward we went to a local French Bakery and had a three-cheese and bacon croissant. Yummy! By the middle of the day, Ashlyn was so worn out from all the fun that she crashed on the bed. Sweet dreams sweetie!

Nielsen's Grove
Yesterday we met up with Brittney, Tanner, and Natalya at a nearby park called Nielsen's Grove. The weather was perfect for being outside and we all enjoyed the playground and swings. We put Ashlyn and Natalya in one of the baby swings together and they just loved it--one of them would start to giggle and then the other one would start giggling. Another big hit was the duck pond. The kids tried to get as close as possible to the water's edge and I think Natalya even stuck her foot in! The pictures with the rocks are from the edge of the pond. I especially like the one where Ashlyn is resting on the rock and watching the ducks. I didn't have my camera yesterday, so all these pictures were taken by Brittney. Thank you!

Bookworm?
If I had a dollar for every time in the past month I've found Ashlyn looking at books, I would be a rich woman! This picture was actually taken a week and a half ago, and I was intending to take more of her in other reading situations, but I haven't . . . Seriously though, she loves flipping through books, magazines, newspapers, you name it. The book she has in the photo was one that I had been reading and it doesn't have a single picture!
Today I passed by her room and she was on the floor with the October Ensign, flipping the pages. Don't ask me how she got a hold of it! I asked her what she was reading and she didn't even look up. It must have been a good article.
There is a book that we keep in the car for her to look at while we're traveling, and on two occasions I've found her reading it upside-down. The book actually has really gorgeous pictures, so I'm sure they look good in all directions.
Well, I just hope she keeps this up, but if not, I'll have a picture to show to prove that she once loved to read!

A Balancing Act
Grandma May said that she bought this toy for Ashlyn because you could stand up by it and play (this was at a time when Ashlyn was really in to standing up). Well, I bet she didn't expect it to be a toy that Ashlyn used to stand on. If you look closely in the first picture, you can see that Ashlyn is balancing on the toy. In the second picture she is showing me that she can even do it with no hands!
