So Much Love

I just walked in the room and saw that Ashlyn had fallen asleep for her nap. I love looking at her when she is sleeping - so precious. Sometimes I am just overwhelmed by how much love I feel for her. I am just so thankful that Heavenly Father sent her to us and I'm so excited to welcome another special little spirit into our home!

6 Months Down

I am now officially in my third trimester! I haven't thrown up in weeks and my only complaint is that I hardly have any energy. Now, just three more months (give or take a few weeks) and we will be holding our little boy.

Here is a picture of my belly that was taken last night (27 weeks). I wasn't good about taking pictures of myself when I was pregnant with Ashlyn, so I have no idea how this pregnancy compares to the last one. Though Brad and I both think this baby will be bigger.

As time goes by, I am getting more and more excited about having a son. I think it is going to be a really different experience. He seems more active inside my tummy and I wonder if that is any sign of things to come. At least I won't have to worry about him taking off his headbands or pulling the clips out of his hair!

Setting up the Jungle Gym

Well, first of all, Ashlyn is already enjoying her new toys. She takes very good care of them - especially Ernie. Today, she made sure that he had his sunscreen (it was actually eye make-up remover) on before they went grocery shopping.

Brad set up the Jungle Gym last night after he came home from work. It was quite a task, but of course, his engineering mind figured it all out. Ashlyn wasted no time in trying it out.

Brad taught her how to climb up on both sides.

Initially, she would just climb up the slide, slide down, climb up the slide, slide down . . .

When I was about 4, my parents bought a Jungle Gym, and I remember really enjoying it. I'm hoping it will be just as fun for Ashlyn and her younger siblings and all the cousins and friends that come to visit (hint, hint)!

Garage Sales

Saturday afternoon I got a call from my visiting teacher informing me that I needed to check out my neighbor's garage sale, because there was a Little Tikes Jungle Gym that Ashlyn might like. Now, I don't usually go to garage sales - it just isn't really my thing, but to be polite to my visiting teacher, I decided I would check it out.

Ashlyn got a life jacket that she wore for about an hour Sunday afternoon.

This is the Jungle Gym. We took it apart to clean it up and struggled to put it together again. Initially, we thought we would put it in the playroom, but the previous owners had it outside and so it smells like outside. So, it will be an outdoor toy.

We also bought this shopping cart and Ernie doll.

Also, we picked up this easel. Ashlyn likes to color with chalk, and you can also put a pad of paper up there for coloring. She has found it to be a great sippy holder as well.

Well, these few items plus a plastic outdoor pool and a small bee fold-up chair cost a total of $20. We're happy with our new additions, but I have a feeling that it wouldn't be wise for me to make a habit out of garage sale shopping - our house would fill up way too fast!

My Lil Sis is Getting Hitched

On Sunday, Lorie called to tell us that Mason had just propsed. They are planning on getting married at the end of August (before Michael leaves on his mission and before school starts). We are very excited for them both. Mason is wonderful and he will be a great addition to the family. For more details about the engagement, check out Lorie's blog. Congratulations Lorie! We love you!

First Swim of the Season

Today we went with Kyle and Tiffany to the Pleasant Grove Veterans Pool. It was the first time that Ashlyn and I had been swimming this summer, and she wore the swimsuit that Grandma May gave her for Easter!

Here she is lifting up her cover-up to show me her "baby." Lately, she has been calling her tummy her "baby." I think I've confused her by continually telling her that there is a baby in my tummy.

Just chillin' at the poolside.

Munching on some carrots. For some reason, I really love this picture.

I was determined that Ashlyn would not fall asleep in the car on the way home from the pool, so I gave her a pen and paper (she is usually really good with pens) to keep her occupied. Unfortunately, when we arrived home, I realized that she had been drawing on herself and on her shoe.

She is proudly showing off her body art.

"I want to Color"

Ashlyn really likes to draw and color. From a young age, she could hold pens and crayons and scribble away. Unfortunately, the other day she noticed that I was highlighting words in a book I was reading. She has now decided that she likes to color in books. No good. How do I explain the difference to a one-year-old?
